Testimonials

Everstand has blessed me with the amazing opportunity to work as an intern in the Caminos program. Since starting my internship in September I have learned so much from the both the children and the staff. I have learned more about the legal side of immigration for youth who travel to the United States and how Everstand helps them once they arrive at the Caminos program. The diverse population of children in the Caminos program has also opened my eyes to things that I had never been exposed to in the past. These children have experienced more hardships than most of us will experience in a lifetime. Being involved in such a diverse program has contributed immensely to the experience I need in order to continue with my career in social work and it is also inspiring how dedicated the Everstand staff is to helping the children be successful. I am so grateful that I am able to be a part of the program during my internship.

My name is Rigel Moore, and I am a current Master of Social Work Student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. Through my employment at Everstand, I’ve gained the opportunity to complete my foundation year of internship at the Strawbridge School. While interning at the Strawbridge school under LCSW-C Nikole Boston, I gained clinical knowledge and experience through our rigorous learning agreement contract. Within this contract, I’ve gained clinical exposure through various aspects of the Social Work profession.  One of my roles as a Social Work intern, I obtained a clinical caseload of youth, providing both group and individual therapy prescribed to each youth via IEP. I’ve completed data analysis, psychological assessments, and clinical evaluations, to name a few educational areas. My first year of foundation classes corresponded directly with my Strawbridge internship, which allowed me to utilize skills from the classroom into the field.

Lastly, there are many positive aspects of pursuing an employment-based field placement at Everstand. First, the convenience of the location and caseload flexibility between programs takes the stress off any full-time working student. Everstand’s licensed therapist provides excellent supervision to internships as well as expertise. As a Strawbridge intern, I was able to form new professional relationships. I gained direct exposure to areas that will help me not only better my future career as a Social Worker but will assist me in my everyday work here as an employee.

~ Rigel Moore, Case Manager

I started out at Everstand as an intern in both the finance and HR departments. Working in the finance department gave me an idea of what to look forward to after graduating from college. I was also able to spend a good amount of time within the HR department. My supervisor was very encouraging and more than willing to work around my school schedule. Interning at Everstand helped me meet many employees within the organization who I now interact with daily. I learned how the organization runs while assisting with various projects with different departments. Being able to get a taste of both the financial aspect and HR regimen allowed me to become more well-rounded within the organization. Without interning at Everstand, I don’t think the transition from intern to employee would have been as easy for me.

While completing my internship at the Strawbridge School I have learned a great deal about clinical social work within the school system.  Nikole Boston has gone above and beyond to teach me critical skills needed to be a successful therapist and social worker.  I am grateful to work for an agency that supports my education and professional goals.
