The Strawbridge School is a private non-profit, approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) for students of all learning abilities.

Our academic programs provide intentionally small, caring classroom settings guided by certified special education teachers and professionals. The Strawbridge School is a Type I Special Education program, serving individuals in both day and residential programs through a 10-month plus Extended School Year (ESY) program approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

The Strawbridge School provides a supportive and nurturing environment that addresses the unique educational needs of students who have been unable to thrive in less-restrictive public-school settings.

These services go beyond traditional academic instruction, recognizing the need for specialized care and assistance. The Strawbridge School provides academics, vocational opportunities, counseling services, and a school-wide behavior management system to ensure academic success.

By integrating academic, social, and emotional components, students are empowered to overcome challenges, develop coping skills, build resilience, and achieve their full potential.

In order to provide a comprehensive education program, the Strawbridge School employs an interdisciplinary staff, including:

  • A board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA)
  • A coordinator of behavior
  • Behavioral interventionists
  • Teachers
  • Teaching assistants
  • One-on-one aides
  • School therapists
  • Speech/language pathologist
  • Occupational therapist
We mindfully meet each child where they are, not where they’ve been.

Guided by our core values of relationships, impact, safety, and empathy, we see the whole child, not the behavior.
