We Need You
If you're looking for a way to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families, volunteering with Everstand can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.
By supporting children who have experienced trauma, abuse, neglect, or other challenges, you can help them to heal, grow, and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.
You can make a real difference in the lives of children by volunteering.
Your involvement helps to provide youth in our programs with the stability, guidance, and care they need to succeed.
Many of the youth in our care have experienced significant trauma or abuse and may struggle with emotional or behavioral challenges as a result. By giving your time and talents, you help Everstand provide a stable and supportive environment and break the cycle of trauma to build brighter futures.
When you join as a member of our Volunteer Corps, you'll be joining a community of individuals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families.

Each year at Christmas, the Christmas Store is set up for the children served by Everstand. The store stocks new merchandise so each child has an opportunity to select Christmas gifts for the important people in their life. Even though the children may not live with their parents and siblings during the holiday, giving them Christmas gifts is very important to them. Volunteers are needed to help solicit donations, sort/wrap items, and support distribution.
Our Jim Young Memorial Golf Tournament is held annually in September in Carlisle, PA. Proceeds benefit Everstand’s programs in Mechanicsburg, PA.
Looking for a service activity for your company, group, or congregation? We would love to welcome you to any of our campuses to coordinate a service activity in support of the youth and families we serve. Please email Abby Balogun, Volunteer Engagement Manager (hbalogun@everstand.org) if you are interested in a group service activity.
From assembling Easter Baskets to wrapping Christmas gifts to donating candy for Valentine’s Day celebrations, there is no shortage of opportunities to engage in making holidays and celebrations meaningful for Everstand youth and families.
Everstand uses Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) in its Strawbridge School and across its residential locations. Items include, but are not limited to, hygiene and personal care items, electronics, apparel, sports and games, arts and crafts, etc. This is a crucial, evidence-based practice, and volunteers help to solicit donations and organize collections, as well as sort, organize, and stock the PBIS store.
Are you someone who enjoys sharing everyday know-how or guiding young people as they prepare for adulthood? Our programs support youth as they build the confidence and practical skills needed to live independently—and you can play a vital role in that journey. From cooking a meal and doing laundry to budgeting for groceries, applying for jobs, managing time, or even fixing a leaky faucet—these are the kinds of real-life lessons that make a lasting impact.
Whether you have personal experience to share or professional expertise in areas like trades, wellness, career readiness, or independent living, your insight can help prepare youth for life beyond care. We’re looking for volunteers who are ready to show up, share their stories, and help build the skills our youth need to succeed on their own terms.
Ready to make a difference? We’d love to hear from you!

Who doesn’t love to “get away” during the summer months? Everstand’s youth do, too, and volunteers are needed to help bring in monetary donations to offset transportation and admission costs. Thanks to the efforts of donors and volunteers, Everstand youth have been able to take trips to places like entertainment facilities, amusement parks, sporting events, museums, bowling, movies, etc.
When youth enter our residential programs, many arrive with little to nothing—often without even basic hygiene items or a change of clothes. Welcome Bags provide a sense of comfort, dignity, and care during what can be a frightening and uncertain time. These thoughtfully assembled bags are one of the first messages our youth receive: You matter, and you're not alone.
Volunteers play a critical role in making this possible by collecting and soliciting donations of essential items like toothbrushes, deodorant, socks, journals, and more; sorting and organizing donated goods to ensure every bag is complete and age-appropriate; assembling bags with care and consistency; and decorating bags or writing uplifting notes to offer encouragement and a warm welcome.
Whether you give your time, your talents, or rally your community to contribute, your involvement sends a powerful message of hope and humanity.
