In January 2019, the United Methodist Home for Children (UMHC), located in Mechanicsburg, PA, and the Board of Child Care of the United Methodist Church (headquartered in Baltimore, MD) officially merged.
At the time of the merger, Board of Child Care knew it was going to undertake a renaming and brand transition effort in the coming years. Even though the legal entity of UMHC was retired as a result of the merger, the UMHC brand and logo were maintained for about a year to aid in the post-merger messaging.
As the community became more familiar with the Board of Child Care name, the UMHC logo was slowly phased out.
In May of 2024, in celebration of its 150th anniversary of serving children and families, the Board of Child Care rebranded to Everstand. You can read more about the new brand and the transformation here.
Everstand’s Mechanicsburg, PA location still proudly serves children and families through the existing programs it had pre-merger, and some programs that opened after the merger.
