Those who have experienced sexual exploitation are grappling with a deep, complex trauma. It can permeate all aspects of life and have a lasting impact, even after the abuse has stopped.

Everstand’s specialized Lotus Program offers holistic, high-intensity treatment for young females aged 14-20 who meet (or are at risk of meeting) the profile of Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) as defined by the State of Maryland. Lotus Program services include:

  • Intensive case management
  • Individual, family, and group therapy with trauma certified therapist
  • Ongoing behavioral health assessment 
  • Medical and psychiatric care 
  • 24-hours crisis response and safety planning 
  • Evidence-based and research-supported interventions 
  • Co-occurring substance use treatment
  • Holistic therapies
  • Life skills training 
  • Victim advocacy 
  • Family engagement events 
  • Recreational programming 
  • Interpretation and translation services

Treatment Design

Recovery from trauma can be complicated and varied from person to person. We utilize a relationship-based approach to treatment, incorporating clinical interventions such as:

  • Psychoeducation
  • Trauma narration
  • Group treatment
  • Cognitive restructuring
  • Development of coping and stress tolerance skills
  • Post-treatment planning

Lotus Program Goals

  • Prioritize safety through additional security measures in a community-based, homelike setting
  • Coordinate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care within and outside of Everstand
  • Support youth in improving ability to self-regulate and manage impact of trauma
  • Guide youth to achieve personal empowerment with strengths-based approach
  • Promote development of transferable skills for transition to adulthood and overall success in life
  • Create opportunities for family engagement to achieve youth-specific permanency plan

Make an Admissions Referral

Our residential programs require a referral from a state or federal entity to begin the admissions process.  The referring party varies slightly depending on which state Everstand operates within.
