January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness about modern-day trafficking and recommit to supporting survivors on their journey toward safety, healing, and empowerment.
At Everstand, we stand with survivors every day by providing survivor-centered, trauma-informed care and community-based support. Through our Lotus Program, we offer holistic residential services for young people ages 14–20 who have experienced or are at risk of commercial sexual exploitation. This high-intensity programming includes trauma-certified therapy, intensive case management, behavioral health support, life skills training, and victim advocacy in a safe, home-like setting designed to promote healing and growth.
We also support survivors through our Regional Navigator Program, a community-based initiative serving Anne Arundel County. This program provides survivor-centered care and early intervention education for youth and young adults ages 24 and under who have experienced or are at risk of human trafficking. By meeting survivors where they are, Regional Navigators help connect them to critical resources, safety planning, and long-term support within their own communities.
Healing from trafficking is a journey that requires compassion, stability, and access to the right resources at the right time. This month, we honor the strength of survivors and the dedication of the team members who walk alongside them. We also recommit to educating our communities, expanding trauma-responsive care, and advocating for systems that protect vulnerable youth.
Together, we can help ensure every survivor has the opportunity to heal, thrive, and build a future defined by choice, not exploitation.
